Nigerian music icon Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi encouraged graduates to harness their education as a tool for transformative leadership and societal progress during a commencement event held at the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute in Abeokuta.
Addressing the Class of 2023—79 students from Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin—Obey-Fabiyi emphasized integrity, perseverance, and civic responsibility as essential qualities for shaping Nigeria’s future. He highlighted the institute’s mission to cultivate both academic excellence and ethical leadership.
Dr. Lateef Mustapha, representing Al-Hikmah University, praised the graduates for embracing innovative learning approaches, stressing that their success hinges on applying knowledge to solve real-world challenges. “Today marks a triumph of adaptability,” he remarked, urging them to pioneer solutions in their respective industries.
Guest speaker Professor Sabiru Adesanya, former Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, lauded the institute’s model of blending vocational training with character development. “Your education here equips you not just with certificates, but with conscience,” he told the graduating class.
Adekunle Durosinmi, Director of the Institute, noted the ceremony’s significance amid rising demand for its hybrid curriculum. “Our graduates leave as problem-solvers, not just degree-holders,” he said, citing programs in Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, and Mass Communication.
The institute reaffirmed plans to introduce new disciplines while maintaining its focus on producing well-rounded professionals capable of driving economic growth.
