Following the reading of the charges, popular musician Hamisu Breaker and social media personality Abubakar Ibrahim (aka G Fresh) confessed to their offenses. The presiding judge subsequently handed down a five-month custodial sentence or an alternative ₦200,000 penalty for each defendant.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought legal action against rising musical star Hamisu Breaker and viral TikTok creator Abubakar Ibrahim before Justice Sale Musa Shuaibu of Kano’s Federal High Court, prosecuting them for violations concerning the misuse of the nation’s legal tender.

Court proceedings revealed that both entertainers – Hamisu Breaker and G Fresh – admitted guilt when presented with the charges, resulting in sentencing options of either five months behind bars or payment of ₦200,000 fines.

The musician faced conviction for improperly distributing approximately ₦30,000 in ₦200 banknotes during a celebratory event held in Jigawa State’s Hadejia region.

Concurrently, digital content producer G Fresh was penalized for tossing bundles of ₦1,000 denominations during grand opening festivities for a business establishment in Kano’s Tarauni district.
