Nollywood star Regina Daniels has opened up about the intense family resistance she faced before marrying Senator Ned Nwoko, debunking widespread rumors that she was coerced into the union.

The actress shared a heartfelt Instagram post, revealing that her mother fiercely opposed the relationship for seven years before finally relenting.

Contrary to public speculation, Regina clarified that her family, including her mother, strongly disapproved of her marriage to the much older politician.

Amid recent allegations of domestic abuse against her husband, the young actress expressed deep regret over her decision to pursue the relationship.

She passionately defended her mother against online critics, denying claims that financial motives drove her into the marriage.

“My mother fought tirelessly for seven years to stop me,” Regina confessed. “But I was stubborn—completely head over heels in love, despite everyone’s warnings.”

“People assume I married for money, but that’s far from true. My family wasn’t destitute—I was actually supporting them,” she continued.

“What could Ned possibly offer my mother to convince her? I was her primary provider. She, my brother, everyone begged me to reconsider. At one point, I even contemplated suicide when they tried to stop the wedding.”
