Leaders from actress Regina Daniels’ hometown in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, have issued a stern ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, demanding the immediate refund of her bride price within 48 hours.
In a strongly worded statement, the community accused Nwoko of violating cultural norms by reportedly persecuting the actress’s kin following their separation.
The open letter, authored by Favour Awele Obi, represents the collective voice of the Ogwashi-Uku people.
According to the document, Nwoko has allegedly exploited his political influence to torment Regina’s relatives, flouting ancestral traditions that permit women to exit marriages freely when accompanied by bride price reimbursement.
The elders revealed multiple unsuccessful attempts by Regina’s family to return the dowry, claiming Nwoko deliberately ignored these overtures.
Should the senator persist in his refusal, community leaders vowed to deposit the payment at the sacred Ikeleke Quarter, a ceremonial gesture dissolving the marital bond under native law.
The statement condemned the purported arrest of Regina’s siblings as a gross violation of cultural protocols, insisting such actions dishonor Ogwashi-Uku traditions.
The appeal, amplified online by Regina’s brother Sweezzy and actor Stanley Ontop, called for Nwoko’s compliance with customary practices and the unconditional release of detained family members.
This development follows Regina’s explosive claim days earlier that her ex-husband orchestrated the detention of her relatives after she rejected reconciliation attempts.
The celebrity couple, wed in 2019 and parents to two boys, has remained silent about recent allegations as tensions escalate.
At press time, Senator Nwoko’s camp has yet to address the community’s demands publicly.
