Bobby Williams Adeoye, the son of the late gospel icon Omije Ojumi, has opened up about his mother’s passing, sharing heartfelt memories of her life and legacy.
During a tribute service held in her honor, Williams reflected on his mother’s unwavering dedication to his upbringing, emphasizing her relentless drive to see him excel in every aspect of life.
He painted a vivid picture of Ojumi as a nurturing yet resilient woman whose love and discipline shaped his character. Whether at home or in academics, she instilled in him the determination to strive for excellence.
Williams fondly recalled how she would eagerly await his return from school, always curious about his day and offering words of encouragement. Her attentiveness, he said, made him feel cherished and motivated.
Beyond her nurturing side, he remembered her infectious laughter and playful spirit, which filled their home with joy. Her ability to uplift others with humour remains one of his most treasured memories.
Though her passing was not entirely unexpected—given her candid discussions about mortality—Williams admitted the grief still weighs heavily. Yet, he finds solace in knowing her legacy lives on through him.
In an emotional tribute, he shared: “My mother was my rock—loving, fierce, and endlessly supportive. She pushed me to be my best, whether in school or life. Coming home to her questions about my day made me feel valued. Even now, I hear her laughter in my mind. She may be gone, but her spirit stays with me. Rest peacefully, Mommy.”
Omije Ojumi, born Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and music.
