Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang is counting her blessings after a terrifying incident in her home, where her plaster-of-Paris (POP) ceiling suddenly collapsed, nearly injuring her loved ones.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the reality TV star shared a video of the aftermath, revealing that her younger sister and nanny were sewing in the living room when the ceiling unexpectedly gave way.
Recalling the frightening moment, Queen described how her mother burst into her room to deliver the shocking news. Initially overwhelmed with fear, she felt immediate relief upon learning that both her sister and nanny were unharmed.
This incident follows another recent scare when the POP ceiling in her garage collapsed just weeks earlier. Expressing gratitude for divine protection, Queen wrote: “7:58am—God said, not this family.”
She went on to detail the chaotic events leading up to the accident: “After working late into the night, I arrived home around 4am from the airport, where I’d picked up my friend for her Guinness World Record project. My sister was still sewing, and I urged my workers to stay over for safety.”
Miraculously, her sister and nanny avoided sleeping in the living room that night—a usual habit—and were awake when the ceiling collapsed, giving them a chance to escape.
Amidst the chaos, Queen remains focused on coordinating her friend’s Guinness World Record attempt, which launches soon. Balancing family safety with professional commitments, she concluded: “Dear Lord, I am grateful. Thank You for Your love and protection.”
