Federico Valverde was rushed to the hospital following a heated altercation with Aurelien Tchouameni during Real Madrid’s training session, Spanish outlets reported Thursday.

The Uruguayan midfielder reportedly needed medical attention, including stitches for a facial laceration. Assistant coach Alvaro Arbeloa accompanied him to a nearby clinic from the Valdebebas training complex.

The dispute between the two players reportedly began on Wednesday and escalated in Thursday’s session, continuing into the locker room afterward.

Contrary to initial speculation, Marca clarified that Tchouameni’s punch was not the direct cause of Valverde’s injury.

Neither Real Madrid nor the players’ representatives responded to requests for comment when reached by AFP.

Reports indicate tensions flared after Valverde committed a hard challenge on Tchouameni and declined a post-training handshake. The confrontation intensified in the dressing room, where Valverde sustained the cut.

The incident highlights growing frustration within the squad as Real Madrid faces the prospect of another trophyless season.

With Barcelona leading by 11 points, Sunday’s Clasico could potentially seal the league title for the Catalan side if they emerge victorious.
