Nigeria has secured hosting rights for two prestigious CAF events following President Bola Tinubu’s official endorsement during discussions with Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
The landmark decision ensures Nigeria will welcome African football’s elite for both the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in October and the highly anticipated annual CAF Awards ceremony.
Key stakeholders present at the historic meeting included Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, CAF Special Adviser Amaju Pinnick, and CAF’s Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
The General Assembly represents African football’s highest decision-making platform, convening leadership from all 54 member associations and regional federations to determine policies and strategic directionsCTS for the sport’s development.
Complementing the assembly, Nigeria will stage the continent’s most glamorous football event – the CAF Awards – honoring outstanding performers across categories including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Team of the Year.
