Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, widely recognized by his stage name Portable, appeared before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on Monday to answer a nine-count criminal indictment.
Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the charges, which encompass assault, theft, bodily harm, and resisting lawful arrest.
The legal action comes after a widely circulated video surfaced on Sunday, showing the musician in police detention following allegations made by his former partner, Ashabi Simple.
Prosecutors claim Portable physically attacked Ashabi, multiple law enforcement officers, and other individuals at his Iyana Ilogbo bar on January 1st.
Additional complainants listed in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Among the accusations is the alleged theft of a Mercedes-Benz E300 worth N12 million, reportedly owned by Ileyemi and acquired from Wally Dex Auto.
Sources indicate that two relatives of Ashabi Simple provided eyewitness testimony regarding the alleged assault, though Ashabi did not appear in court.
Authorities further allege that Portable obstructed and assaulted Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi during the execution of her official duties.
The presiding magistrate refused bail, noting the absence of the assaulted police officer, whose testimony was deemed crucial for the proceedings.
With bail deliberations postponed, Portable remains in custody pending a new hearing set for January 19, 2026.
