Angela Okorie

Nollywood star Angela Okorie has allegedly been detained again shortly after her release from Suleja Prison, following claims that she refused to compensate her bail attorney.

The actress, who was initially arrested over a dispute with Mercy Johnson, found herself back in custody just moments after regaining freedom on Tuesday.

The news broke after actor Stanley Ontop voiced concerns about a potential second arrest upon her release.

Actress Doris Ogala revealed in an Instagram video that Okorie was taken into custody by an unnamed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for declining to pay the legal fee of N5 million agreed upon for her bail.

Doris stated: “You have to be mindful of your agreements. Angela has been arrested again—I’m actually headed to the police station now. When she was detained earlier, she reached out to someone, possibly an acquaintance, who arranged for a SAN to assist.

“The SAN demanded N5 million for his services, which included securing her bail. But after Angela was freed, she refused to pay, claiming she never authorized the arrangement. Meanwhile, the intermediary had already covered the cost.”

Okorie had previously been granted bail following her arrest in a defamation case involving Mercy Johnson, only to face another legal hurdle shortly after.
