The loved ones of the late vocalist Ifunanya Nwangene, widely known by her stage name Nanyah, have shared details of her burial ceremonies after her untimely demise from a venomous snakebite in Abuja on January 31, 2026.
Reports indicate that Nanyah was swiftly taken to a medical facility following the incident but succumbed to the envenomation. Her sudden departure has left fans, friends, and fellow musicians across Nigeria’s entertainment space mourning the immense loss.
Her sibling, Kingsley Nwangene, revealed the funeral schedule on Instagram (@official_kaybaba1), where he shared an emotional homage alongside her obituary: “Until we reunite, sis.”
Per the family’s announcement, a hymn service will take place on February 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos, beginning at 4 p.m. A requiem mass follows at 6 p.m. within the same premises.
“Her final rites will be held in her ancestral home in Enugu State on February 14, 2026, with a thanksgiving ceremony set for the next day to commemorate her artistic journey,” the statement disclosed.
In a moving gesture, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir organized a commemorative performance titled “Melodies of Remembrance” at Transcorp Hilton’s Congress Hall to pay respects to her indelible impact on the city’s music culture.
Choir representatives confirmed that her body has been moved to Enugu, where her family awaits. They emphasized her irreplaceable role in nurturing Abuja’s evolving classical and modern music landscape.
