Big Brother Naija Season 7 champion Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, widely recognized as Phyna, has finally responded to the backlash she faced after being spotted at a social event shortly after her sister’s funeral.

The reality star, who tragically lost her younger sibling Ruth Otabor in a road accident involving a Dangote truck in August, drew criticism when footage emerged of her enjoying a night out with actress Regina Daniels just weeks after the burial.

Online critics swiftly condemned Phyna for what they perceived as insensitivity, questioning her decision to celebrate so soon after her family’s loss. While Regina Daniels had previously urged people not to judge others’ grieving processes, Phyna remained silent—until now.

In a heartfelt post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, the BBNaija winner addressed the controversy, reminding the public that everyone copes with sorrow differently.





“There is no rulebook for grief—no right or wrong way to express it. Just because I smile or share moments of joy doesn’t mean my pain has disappeared.

If you can’t offer kindness, at least offer your silence,” she wrote.
