Ruth Otabor, an alumna of Auchi Polytechnic and sibling of popular reality TV personality Ijeoma Josephine Otabor, widely known as Phyna, has tragically passed away.
Phyna shared the heartbreaking news in a statement posted to her Instagram account on Sunday.
Her message read, “We act as legal representatives for Ruth Otabor, Josephine Otabor (Phyna), and the Otabor family, and are authorized to relay this information to the public.
“It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved daughter, sister, and mother on August 31, 2025, at approximately 6:30 AM.
“The family requests privacy during this difficult time of mourning. Details regarding funeral arrangements will be disclosed when finalized.”
Ruth had been involved in a devastating accident earlier, resulting in the loss of her leg after being struck by a Dangote truck operated by a driver reported to be underage and without a valid license.
The incident took place on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, prompting Phyna to pursue legal action against the Dangote Group for accountability.
Although the company initially vowed to cover all medical expenses, including international treatment, Phyna alleges they later withdrew their support.
