Peter Okoye

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has fired back at claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to provide evidence backing his allegations of an $800,000 unauthorized withdrawal by his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye, from their shared business account during their time as P-Square.

The controversy arose from a 2024 legal petition in which Peter accused Jude and Paul of embezzlement, revealing 47 undisclosed bank accounts while allegedly altering ownership stakes in Northside Entertainment Ltd.

In response, the EFCC charged Jude with financial misconduct tied to the group’s brand operations.

During court proceedings, EFCC’s counsel, M.K. Bashir, informed Justice Rahman Oshodi that there was insufficient proof to validate the $800,000 transaction.

When pressed for details, Bashir stated: “The evidence isn’t in our possession. The burden of proof lies with the claimant, not the prosecution.”

He also dismissed claims regarding the 47 alleged accounts, clarifying, “That is based on witness testimony—no official documentation exists.”

Peter dismissed the reports as misinformation on social media, denying any such court session took place.

In a post, he labeled the story as calculated propaganda, writing, “More lies being peddled as news. A hearing that never occurred? This is character assassination, not journalism.”
