Oseloka Obia, the son of Nigerian political figure Peter Obi, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding viral images featuring him and London-based British-Nigerian Kent Okwesa.

The photos, which surfaced online in August 2025, depicted the two men dining together, sparking unwarranted speculation.

In response, Oseloka issued a statement emphasizing that his work in theater and film naturally exposes him to diverse individuals across the spectrum of sexuality and identity.

His words: “While public figures inevitably face scrutiny, let’s be clear: politics is my father’s arena, not mine. Equating my personal associations with political messaging is intellectually dishonest—a transparent attempt to sow division where none exists. These recycled falsehoods say more about the insecurities of those peddling them than about me or my family.

“Time and again, critics of my father weaponize mundane moments from my life—photos that were never concealed—weaving them into fabricated tales. These aren’t ‘shocking discoveries’—they’re recycled drama, tailor-made for clickbait. Watching this manipulation unfold isn’t just frustrating; it’s exhausting.

“As an actor, I inhabit roles that challenge perspectives and push boundaries. My father, a businessman and economist, may not have envisioned this career for me, but his unwavering support speaks louder than any rumor. Unlike many political progeny, I’ve never ridden on privilege—my accomplishments are mine alone, built through hard work in an industry that celebrates diversity.

“Nigeria’s real crises—economic instability, insecurity, corruption—deserve more attention than baseless gossip about private interactions. While some fixate on manufactured scandals, our nation’s pressing issues go unanswered. The focus should be on progress, not petty distractions.”
