Legendary Nollywood icon Pete Edochie has observed that Igbo men face significant challenges in politics, suggesting their temperament doesn’t naturally align with political maneuvering.
He elaborated that Igbo culture discourages tolerance for betrayal, a trait he described as pervasive in political circles.
According to him, this characteristic leads many Igbo politicians to abruptly sever crucial alliances, ultimately hindering their long-term political aspirations.
During a candid conversation with Afia TV, Edochie remarked, “The Igbo man isn’t built for conventional politics. Here’s why – seasoned politicians learn to stomach all manner of deceit, but this goes against the Igbo nature.”
“An Igbo man won’t tolerate treachery twice. Betray them once politically, and that door closes forever. They withdraw completely – that’s the fundamental Igbo disposition,” he added.
“The Igbo psyche simply isn’t wired to endure political betrayal. Show deceitful tendencies with an Igbo politician, and you’re permanently cut off. End of story.”
