Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has opened up about a common misconception surrounding his personality.
The Bayer Leverkusen star revealed that many perceive him as disrespectful due to his habit of sharing bold memes online.
Boniface has previously faced criticism for his social media activity, particularly for posting humorous yet edgy content.
During a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, the Nigerian international clarified that his posts are simply a form of self-expression and don’t reflect his true character.
He also addressed the broader issue of footballers being misunderstood, explaining that their professional constraints often lead to unfair judgments.
“There’s this false belief that footballers are arrogant or unfriendly just because we interact less with other professions. That’s not true,” Boniface stated.
“People expect us to behave like other celebrities, but our profession has different boundaries. When we don’t meet those expectations, we’re labeled as rude.
“Take me for instance – I share funny, sometimes edgy memes, and people assume I’m disrespectful. That’s not the case. I only respond if someone crosses the line first. Many of us have that fiery side that only comes out when provoked, but generally, we’re just normal, calm people,” the striker elaborated.
