Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has shed light on the strong bond he shares with Stanley Nwabali, dispelling rumors of any rivalry between them.
Uzoho emphasized that his connection with Nwabali goes beyond the pitch, describing the Chippa United star as more than just a teammate—but a brother.
Recalled to Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, the Omonoia FC shot-stopper revealed their mutual support and camaraderie.
“Stanley isn’t just a colleague; he’s family,” Uzoho stated in an interview with Super Eagles media. “From the moment he joined, we’ve had each other’s backs. People on the outside may not see it, but our bond is solid.”
He also acknowledged the role of fellow goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, highlighting the unity within the squad ahead of Nigeria’s Group C fixtures against Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Coach Eric Chelle’s team will test their readiness with an upcoming friendly against Egypt this Tuesday.
