Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, the visionary leader behind David’s Christian Centre, has challenged traditional gender roles by asserting that men are not biblically obligated to financially support women.

During a powerful sermon, he urged women to embrace financial independence rather than relying on men for sustenance.

He clarified that while societal norms may encourage male provision, Scripture prioritizes diligence and self-reliance for both genders.

“Dependency isn’t God’s design. Culture may dictate otherwise, but the Word is clear—those unwilling to work shouldn’t expect to eat,” Pastor Okonkwo declared.

The minister expressed bewilderment at women who abandon their financial autonomy after entering relationships, labeling this mindset as counterproductive. He stressed that affluent families instill values of self-sufficiency in their children, regardless of gender.

Pastor Okonkwo also cautioned against measuring self-worth through male provision, arguing that such dependence invites disrespect.

“When you tie your value to what a man can buy you, you invite mistreatment. If popcorn becomes your price tag, don’t be surprised when they treat you like cheap snacks,” he admonished.
