Bisi Adewale, a prominent pastor and marriage counselor, has challenged conventional views by stating that financial provision and affection are secondary to a husband’s divine calling.
In a recent sermon, he argued that many men misunderstand their marital role by placing emotional and material commitments above their sacred duties.
According to Adewale, a husband’s foremost obligation is to serve as the spiritual anchor of his home, fostering a deep connection with God and leading his family in faith.
“A man’s top priority in marriage isn’t providing for his wife or showing love—it’s being the priest of his household. Everything else flows from that foundation,” he emphasized.
The pastor warned that love without divine guidance can become possessive and destructive, distorting a husband’s intentions over time.
“If you love your wife more than you love God, that love will turn toxic. Human love is flawed—it demands, it manipulates. Only through God can you truly love selflessly,” he explained.
Citing scripture, Adewale reinforced that spiritual devotion must come before all earthly relationships, including marriage.
He referenced Matthew 6:33, stating, “Seek God’s kingdom first, and marital blessings will follow naturally.” Marriage, he noted, is a secondary reward for those who prioritize divine alignment.
