Popular comedian and activist, Mr Macaroni, has reflected on the tragic events that unfolded at the Lekki tollgate three years ago during the historic #EndSARS demonstrations.
The nationwide protest, sparked by widespread police brutality, saw young Nigerians occupy the Lekki-Ikoyi toll plaza for weeks demanding justice and reform.
On this fateful day in 2020, armed forces forcefully disrupted the peaceful gathering, resulting in casualties that shocked the nation.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, the outspoken entertainer expressed dismay at what he describes as public complacency toward oppressive systems.
His emotional post on Instagram read:
“”Our brightest futures were cut short – lives extinguished, aspirations crushed by those sworn to protect us.
Though many now embrace their oppressors, October 20th remains a day burned in our collective memory! Never forget, never forgive.””
