Thierry Henry, the renowned CBS Sports pundit, highlighted that Victor Osimhen’s reluctance to pass the ball at crucial moments may have hindered Galatasaray from converting more chances in their UEFA Champions League duel with Liverpool on Tuesday evening.
It’s worth noting that Osimhen’s successful penalty kick secured Galatasaray a narrow 1-0 triumph over Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad.
Henry remarked that had Osimhen opted to share the ball more often during the game at Rams Park, Galatasaray might have added to their tally against the Reds.
The Arsenal icon also praised the Nigerian striker for his composed execution of the penalty, emphasizing that the entire Galatasaray team deserves accolades for defeating the Premier League titleholders.
“When Galatasaray is in top form, they can overcome any opponent,” Henry stated during his post-match analysis.
“Playing at home and at their peak, they have the ability to challenge any European team.
“Their relentless effort and commitment were evident throughout the match. They excelled in counter-attacking play.
“Osimhen’s occasional selfishness might have cost them additional goals. There were moments where passing to a teammate could have been more beneficial. Nevertheless, he converted the penalty with precision.
“Prior to the match, I mentioned, ‘They have the potential to trouble Liverpool.’ Credit must be given to the team. The players showed remarkable determination,” the French football legend concluded.
