Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is set to make his comeback for Galatasaray on October 9 after recovering from a persistent muscle injury.
The prolific forward has been sidelined since September 4 when he suffered the setback during a heated encounter with Başakşehir.
Osimhen’s rehabilitation has progressed slower than anticipated, causing him to miss three crucial fixtures for his Turkish club.
Initially called up for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the 25-year-old has withdrawn from national team duty as his recovery continues.
Prior to his injury, Osimhen was in scintillating form, netting six goals and providing two assists in just four appearances this campaign.
Super Eagles coach has turned to Coventry City’s Taiwo Awoniyi as Osimhen’s replacement, with additional striking options including Tolu Arokodare, Akor Adams, and rising star Rafiu Durosinmi.
Medical staff at Galatasaray remain confident Osimhen will regain full fitness in time for October’s crucial club fixtures.
