Victor Osimhen has declared that the Super Eagles are fully prepared for a challenging showdown against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The encounter, set to take place in Fès on Tuesday, will mark the beginning of Nigeria’s quest for continental glory. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM Nigerian time.
Despite being strong favorites, the Napoli forward emphasized the importance of not underestimating their opponents, who are determined to make an impact in their fourth AFCON appearance.
Osimhen, who struggled to find his scoring form in the previous edition, is eager to lead Nigeria’s charge this time around. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete for the title, stating:
“This is war. We’re taking it one game at a time, starting with Tanzania. We respect every opponent, but we believe we’re among the top contenders. Our goal is clear—to bring the trophy home. It won’t be easy, but this squad has the quality and determination to go all the way.”
The Super Eagles, runners-up in 2025, will rely on Osimhen’s firepower as they aim to surpass their previous campaign’s performance.
