Hope, a resilient 2-year-old boy once abandoned in Akwa Ibom after being falsely accused of witchcraft, has triumphantly completed his primary education.
Rescued on January 30, 2016, by compassionate aid workers Anja Ringgren Lovén and David Emmanuel Umem, his journey of survival and growth began.
Brought to the ACAEDF—Land of Hope—the young boy overcame severe malnutrition and defied expectations despite his hearing impairment.
By July 2025, Hope celebrated a monumental milestone: graduating with top honors and preparing for secondary school this September.
Lovén shared the heartwarming update on Facebook, expressing immense pride in his achievements.
“Hope not only survived—he thrived. Now a primary school graduate, he’s ready for the next chapter. His intelligence, artistic talent, and vibrant spirit inspire us daily,” she wrote.
“Deaf yet unstoppable, he communicates fluently in sign language and excels beyond measure.”
“His story, though extraordinary, reminds us of countless others still suffering. But with unwavering support, we’ll keep fighting for every child.”
