Oriyomi Hamzat

Oriyomi Hamzat, the brains behind Agidigbo 88.7 FM in Ibadan, has publicly extended an apology to Afrobeat artist Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley.

Additionally, he revoked the suspension previously imposed on Naira Marley’s music tracks at the station, a decision originally tied to the tragic passing of rising star Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba).

Earlier in 2024, Hamzat enforced the prohibition following accusations linking Marley to Mohbad’s untimely demise. However, on Tuesday, August 19, the broadcaster announced on-air that the restriction had been lifted, accompanied by a heartfelt apology.

Speaking candidly during the broadcast, Hamzat stated, “I sincerely regret any offensive remarks or comments directed at Naira Marley. Today, Agidigbo FM is moving beyond negativity to embrace positivity and unity.”

He continued, “Effective immediately, the ban on Naira Marley’s music is officially lifted. Listeners can once again enjoy his tracks on our station.”

Demonstrating his commitment, Hamzat immediately aired Naira Marley’s hit single “Tesumole” as a symbolic gesture of reconciliation.
