Renowned Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently opened up about the terrifying ordeal her family faced during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, disclosing that her children were subjected to de@th threats—an experience that profoundly impacted her activism.
The celebrated actress, whose career spans more than 30 years, shared these chilling details in a candid interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds.
Describing the backlash she endured, Omotola admitted that the #EndSARS movement marked the darkest and most perilous phase of her advocacy efforts.
“I’ve faced de@th threats before, but nothing compares to the intensity of #EndSARS. It was relentless,” she confessed.
What shook her most, however, was the targeting of her children.
“When the threats extended to my kids, it crossed a line. That was truly terrifying,” she revealed, her voice trembling with emotion.
Beyond social media activism, Omotola played a hands-on role during the protests.
“I was on the frontlines—engaging global media like CNN, collaborating with NGOs, and mobilizing international support,” she explained.
The situation escalated when protesters began physically searching for her.
“Once people started showing up at my home and workplace, I realized the danger wasn’t just mine—it involved everyone around me,” she added.
