Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk reinforced his status as the top heavyweight of his generation with a commanding fifth-round knockout against Daniel Dubois in their undisputed world championship bout at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The win extended Usyk’s unbeaten streak to 24 professional fights as the WBA, WBC, and WBO titleholder claimed Dubois’ IBF belt, further cementing his dominance.

Usyk controlled the early rounds and sent Dubois to the mat early in the fifth, eventually sealing the victory with a devastating left hook that left his opponent unable to continue at 1:52 into the round.

This marked Usyk’s second win over Dubois, following a controversial 2023 bout in Poland where Dubois was accused of a low blow in the fifth round.

Before the fight, Lennox Lewis predicted a stronger Dubois, saying: “Dubois has matured in the sport…This is a different fighter than before.”

However, Usyk delivered a masterclass in front of a roaring crowd, many waving Ukrainian flags, as he outclassed the British challenger.

“38 is just the beginning!” Usyk exclaimed post-fight. “All thanks to Jesus Christ, my team, and Wembley—this victory is for the people!”

He hinted at taking a break before considering future opponents, mentioning Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, or Joseph Parker.

Dubois vowed to return, stating: “He was the better man tonight, but I’ll be back stronger.”
