Nigerian hip-hop sensation Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, recently shared a harrowing experience from a routine medical procedure that took a dangerous turn.
The artist disclosed that the incident occurred shortly after the release of his chart-topping track “Declan Rice.”
Initially planned as a quick tonsillectomy, the surgery spiraled into a life-threatening ordeal when unforeseen complications arose.
Odumodublvck revealed that while the operation was expected to last under an hour, it ultimately required five intense hours to complete.
Miraculously, a specialist who rarely visited the facility was coincidentally nearby and rushed in to provide critical assistance.
In the aftermath, the rapper admitted battling overwhelming anxiety, convinced he wouldn’t pull through the traumatic event.
He emotionally recounted sharing these fears with his elderly mother during his recovery period.
In a now-viral interview clip, he stated: “It was insane—I genuinely believed my time was up. This all happened right after dropping ‘Declan Rice.’ I underwent a tonsillectomy—they’re completely gone now. This marks my first public sharing of what really transpired.
“Instead of the standard 30-minute operation, mine stretched to five terrifying hours. The lead surgeon confessed that in twelve years of performing this procedure, he’d never needed backup.
“But that fateful day, the one specialist he called lived an hour away—except miraculously, he happened to be refueling just minutes from the hospital. He appeared like some guardian angel, saved the situation, then vanished. Post-surgery, I was certain I wouldn’t survive. I kept telling my mom I wasn’t going to make it.”
