In a landmark verdict, gospel singer Oluwatimileyin Ajayi has been condemned to death by hanging for the gruesome murder of National Youth Service Corps member Salome Adaidu.

 

The Lafia High Court in Nasarawa State upheld the maximum penalty after convicting Ajayi under Section 221 of the Northern Nigeria Penal Code.

 

Prosecutors proved beyond reasonable doubt that Ajayi committed premeditated homicide, leading to Justice Aboki’s decisive ruling.

 

The court established Ajayi’s guilt in both the killing and subsequent dismemberment of the victim, fulfilling all elements of the capital offense.

 

Section 221 of the Penal Code mandates execution for such acts of culpable homicide, leaving no sentencing discretion.
