In a bid to ignite the Super Falcons’ attacking prowess, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has pledged a $5,000 reward per goal scored during the group phase of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko made the exciting revelation during his visit to the Nigerian squad’s training base at Rabat’s Marriott Hotel, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to supporting the team’s title defense.
This financial incentive serves as extra motivation for the nine-time African champions, who are looking to extend their dominance in continental women’s football.
Dikko further revealed that the bonus structure would become more lucrative if Nigeria advances to the knockout rounds, with increased rewards for goals in later stages of the competition.
Under the guidance of head coach Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons kick off their title defense against first-time participants Malawi at Al Madina Stadium, marking a historic first encounter between the two nations at senior women’s level.
