Wasiu Akinwande, also known as Olori Eso, a high-profile contract killer, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility.
This follows his arraignment before the Ogba Magistrate Court by the Lagos State Police Command.
The suspect faces charges including murder, illegal firearm possession, and other serious criminal offenses.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin verified the development in a Tuesday statement.
Authorities identified the 44-year-old as the “most dangerous and sought-after hitman,” apprehended during a strategic operation codenamed Silence, Speed and Surprise at his Ogun State hideout.
Hundeyin revealed Akinwande had been evading capture before his eventual arrest.
Investigators recovered an arsenal of weapons and other evidence from the suspect’s residence.
Hundeyin stated, “Wasiu Akinwande alias Olori Eso now faces an eleven-count charge before Ogba Magistrate Court.”
Key charges include: “That you, Wasiu Akinwande alias Olori Esho and accomplices, on July 31, 2024, at Idi-araba, Lagos, unlawfully murdered five individuals using AK-47 rifles during gang violence before fleeing to Alagbado, contravening Section 223 of Lagos State laws.
“That you, on same date at Mushin, illegally possessed military-grade firearms including K2 and AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other weapons without lawful justification, violating Section 27(1)(a)(b)(ii) of Nigeria’s Firearms Act.
“That you, on February 17, 2011, at Idi-Araba, attempted to murder Awawu Ajalara by shooting her legs, contravening Section 230(a) of Lagos State laws.
“That you, simultaneously, inflicted permanent disability on Awawu Ajalara through gunshot wounds, breaching Section 245 of Lagos State laws.”
The court ordered Olori Eso’s detention at Kirikiri until September 4, 2025.
