Akor Adams

Sevilla forward Akor Adams has voiced his frustration after Nigeria’s heartbreaking elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles’ defeat, he emphasized, robbed Nigerians of a much-needed source of national pride amid ongoing socio-economic hardships.

Nigeria’s hopes were dashed in a tense 4-3 penalty shootout loss to DR Congo, marking a bitter end to their campaign for the prestigious tournament set to take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Adams, who replaced the injured Victor Osimhen at halftime, struggled to make an impact during regulation time but confidently buried his spot-kick in the decisive shootout.

Taking to social media, the striker poured out his emotions: “Representing Nigeria means everything to me—falling short when our nation needed hope the most cuts deep.”

Despite the setback, Adams had previously delivered crucial goals in qualifiers against Lesotho and Gabon, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
