Emotions ran high as family, friends, colleagues, and government officials gathered in Ujari, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State, to honor the life of beloved Nollywood actor Alex Ikenna Ekubo Okwaraeke, widely known as Alex Ekubo. The somber ceremony paid tribute to the late star’s enduring impact on Nigeria’s film industry.

After bravely battling a prolonged illness, Ekubo passed away at the young age of 40 due to complications from advanced kidney cancer, leaving behind a legacy that transcended Nollywood’s borders.

Filmmakers, actors, and fans from across Nigeria converged to celebrate the actor’s remarkable decade-long career, which earned him acclaim not just at home but across the African continent.

Governor Alex Otti’s Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, speaking on behalf of the state government, described Ekubo’s passing as a
significant blow to Abia State and Nigeria’s creative community.

He emphasized that Ekubo空隙 was more than an actor—he was a cultural icon whose work showcased Abia’s talent to the world. His journey exemplified the determination and artistry of Abia’s youth, motivating aspiring entertainers to embrace their heritage while striving for greatness.

In a heartfelt sermon, Lead Pastor Eno Jerry Eze of Streamcmath Joy International encouraged mourners to reflect on legacy rather than loss, reminding them that a life’s worth is measured by influence, not years. She urged Ekubo’s family to find solace in the indelible mark he left on countless lives.

Throughout the ceremony, colleagues shared tearful memories. Actress Joyce Kanu, who flew in from Abuja, remembered Ekubo as a cheerful collaborator whose sudden passing left many heartbroken.

Stan Nze lamented missed opportunities to collaborate further, while actress Stainless (Oluchi Chiana) praised his generosity toward emerging talents, calling his mentorship irreplaceable.

Ekubo’s journey to stardom included memorable roles in hit Nollywood films, establishing him as a versatile and charismatic performer with an unparalleled work ethic.

Dignitaries from entertainment, business, and public service attended the funeral, including actress Ini Edo, socialite Pretty Mike, entrepreneur Obi Cubana, and pharmaceutical leader Sam Ohuabunwa—highlighting Ekubo’s提速 widespread influence.
