Kunle Remi

Nollywood star Kunle Remi has spoken out about Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, pointing to the surging fuel prices and crippling power shortages plaguing the nation.

In a candid Instagram post, the actor expressed frustration over the skyrocketing cost of petrol, revealing he recently paid over ₦1,300 per litre, a burden straining both businesses and households.

Kunle questioned why Nigeria, a major oil producer, remains vulnerable to global conflicts like the Iran war, leaving citizens to grapple with exorbitant energy costs while refineries lie dormant. He emphasized that silence is no longer an option, urging fellow Nigerians to demand accountability.

The actor also shared the struggles faced by his team members, who can no longer afford transportation to work due to the sharp increase in fares. With generators running nonstop amid erratic power supply, he admitted feeling mentally drained by the dire situation.

He said, “I usually avoid political discussions, but staying silent now is foolishness. Nigeria has resources, yet we’re suffering from fuel scarcity and blackouts. How is this acceptable? We need answers.”

He continued, “Diesel is unaffordable, petrol prices keep climbing, and my staff can barely make it to work. Salaries that were sufficient weeks ago now barely cover transport. What kind of system allows this?”
