Renowned Nollywood star Benedict Johnson recently opened up about a difficult period in his acting journey, disclosing that he faced a five-year drought with no film offers.
The actor shared his emotional testimony during a worship session at Streams of Joy International in Abuja, under the guidance of Pastor Jerry Eze.
His candid revelation quickly went viral across various social media platforms.
Johnson recounted how, for half a decade, casting calls ceased entirely—no producers or directors contacted him for roles.
He emphasized that the entertainment industry operates differently from conventional workplaces, where explanations are given for setbacks.
The silence was particularly painful, he admitted, as there was no communication about why opportunities vanished. Despite this, he maintained unwavering faith throughout the challenging phase.
The prolonged career hiatus motivated Johnson to move to Abuja, where he could regularly attend spiritual gatherings at the church.
Some industry peers questioned his decision, noting Abuja’s limited film production scene compared to Lagos. However, he remained steadfast in prioritizing spiritual growth.
Miraculously, his fortunes shifted dramatically in early 2026. Within just the first month, Johnson secured roles in twelve different productions.
Beyond domestic projects, international opportunities emerged—he revealed upcoming film engagements in Germany and the U.S., expressing profound gratitude for this unexpected turnaround.
During his testimony, Johnson also touched on a personal struggle—his daughter’s health crisis. He shared how she overcame a severe medical condition, marking another answered prayer.
