Renowned Nollywood icon, Patience Ozokwor, has broken her silence amid accusations that she unlawfully seized property from a widow and her daughter.
A viral video recently surfaced featuring the widow and her daughter making allegations against the veteran actress.
In the clip, the widow claimed Ozokwor forcibly took over a parcel of land belonging to her late husband.
Setting the record straight, the actress revealed she legally purchased the land a decade and a half ago.
Her statement reads:
“Back in 2010—fifteen years ago—I acquired this land through proper channels.
The original owner was fully aware of the transaction, having personally sought my agent’s help to find a buyer at the time.
Then, out of nowhere last year—fourteen years later—the former owner attempted to resell part of what is now my property without my knowledge.
Upon discovering this, I took immediate action to secure my investment by erecting a fence.
Suddenly, I find myself the target of a malicious online smear campaign, with the previous owner and her daughter fabricating emotional stories about me stealing their family’s only inheritance.
This is nothing but calculated blackmail and deception. I’m appalled they would exploit my reputation for personal gain and public sympathy. Their tactics are working—some are even sending them donations while hurling insults at me.
Social media isn’t the place to settle legal disputes, so I’m pursuing justice through proper channels. My reputation, painstakingly built over decades, is my most valuable asset.
While I could have responded differently, I chose to let the legal system handle this matter fairly.
I’m particularly disappointed by bloggers who amplified these false claims without verification. My message to them is simple: ‘See you in court.’
