Afro-house sensation Niniola Apata is set to unveil her deeply personal new single, “O Du Mi,” marking her emotional return to music following the tragic loss of her husband, Michael Ndika, earlier this year.

The track, scheduled for release on August 14, will serve as the singer’s first major creative output since Ndika’s passing in May. The pair shared a thirteen-year bond, both personally and professionally, as he was not only her husband but also the CEO of NaijaReview and her longtime manager.

In heartfelt social media posts, Niniola openly expressed her grief, describing Ndika as her “rock, soulmate, and creative compass” in one particularly moving tribute.

“O Du Mi” promises to be a poignant reflection of Niniola’s journey through love, loss, and healing. On Instagram, the artist teased the single with a cryptic post: “When words fail, music speaks—this is my heart in melody.”

Despite her profound loss, Niniola has gradually returned to the spotlight, recently supporting her sister Teniola Apata at a record launch event. In an emotional statement before performing, she shared: “The stage feels different now, but I hear his voice cheering me on with every note.”

The upcoming release signals both a continuation of Niniola’s signature Afro-house sound and a bold new chapter in her artistic evolution. Fans eagerly await what promises to be one of her most raw and vulnerable works yet.

With chart-toppers like “Maradona” and “Designer” in her catalog, Niniola continues to redefine contemporary African music, blending traditional rhythms with cutting-edge production in ways that remain uniquely her own.
