Rotimi Amaechi

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has asserted that Nigerians experienced better living conditions under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership than under the present government.

Amaechi argued that economic hardships have intensified since Buhari’s tenure, leaving citizens struggling with worsening affordability and instability.

He voiced these concerns while addressing demonstrators at the “Occupy the National Assembly” protest in Abuja, where activists demanded electoral transparency and governance reforms.

The rally, organized by youth coalitions, drew massive crowds protesting alleged legislative setbacks threatening credible elections, including the rejection of electronic results transmission.

“Are Nigerians better off today than under APC’s Buhari? Clearly not,” Amaechi declared. “Living standards have plummeted—even subsidy removal plans couldn’t worsen things this much.”

His appearance at the protest highlighted growing frustrations over electoral integrity, particularly after lawmakers dismissed real-time digital voting safeguards.
