Streaming sensation Carter Efe recently disclosed that controversial skit creator Sidney Talker played a pivotal role in his decision to abandon regular church attendance.

During a candid conversation on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Carter recounted how Sidney—who he once admired as a devout believer—shocked him with unconventional counsel that clashed with his perception of devout Christians.

According to Carter, Sidney allegedly urged him to exit the streaming scene entirely and sever ties with his collaborator Kolu by offering him a meager ₦1 million settlement.

The streamer described Sidney’s guidance as questionable, leading him to reevaluate his faith in church attendees and organized religion.

“I was a faithful churchgoer, but I quit when I realized many worshippers harbor ill intentions. Take Sidney—he attends religious services religiously, yet told me to abandon streaming. That suggestion felt deliberately harmful.

“He even pushed me to cut Kolu loose with just ₦1 million, warning that Portable—Kolu’s former boss—might use black magic against me. How can someone so involved in church fear juju?

“His advice came just as my career was taking off. Why would he try to slow my momentum? It made no sense—unless there was malice behind it,” Carter elaborated.

He also opened up about battling months of depression before finding success in streaming, as skit comedy began losing its cultural relevance.

Carter credited his professional shift as the turning point in overcoming his mental health struggles.
