Biodun Okeowo

Nollywood star Biodun Okeowo has openly expressed her dismay over the lack of industry backing for her latest movie, December Party, despite her history of promoting colleagues’ projects.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, the actress revealed how she previously championed films she wasn’t part of—even reaching out to producers to offer promotional help—yet now struggles to receive reciprocal support.

Okeowo lamented that only a handful of peers have rallied behind her new production, calling out what she perceives as hypocrisy and a lack of professional solidarity.

She passionately stated: “I’ve spent years uplifting others’ work—movies I wasn’t even in. I’d message producers directly to promote their projects. Now that I’ve created something myself, where’s that energy in return? What did I do to deserve this silence?”

“It’s heartbreaking when people only show up for tragedies but vanish during your triumphs. True support should be deliberate—a shared commitment to lifting each other up while we’re here to appreciate it.”

The actress made it clear that her frustration stems from a desire for mutual growth, not personal favors: “This isn’t about begging for attention. It’s about building an industry where we actively celebrate each other’s successes.”

Despite her disappointment, Okeowo took time to acknowledge those who did stand by her: “To every single person—inside and outside Nollywood—who shared, prayed, or cheered for this project: your kindness fuels me. I’ll never forget it.”
