
Authorities in Kano State have apprehended two key individuals linked to the violent assault on renowned Nigerian artist Keshinro Ololade, famously known as Lil Kesh.
The arrested duo, Mathew Adewole and Mukhtar Muhammad, allegedly slashed the musician’s neck during a brutal home invasion at his Lagos residence, intending to kill him.
SP Abdullahi Haruna, the police spokesperson, disclosed that the suspects were nabbed in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, following an intelligence-led operation.
During interrogation, Adewole reportedly admitted to attacking Lil Kesh, coercing him into transferring ₦2,120,000 from his bank account via mobile banking to Muhammad’s account.
In his statement, “Through vigilant intelligence and community cooperation, the Kano State Police Command has made a decisive breakthrough in an alarming case of armed robbery and attempted murder.
“On September 11, 2025, tactical teams arrested two suspects—Mathew Adewole, 25, of Na’ibawa Quarters, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, of Unguwa Uku. Adewole confessed to assaulting Lil Kesh at his Chevron, Lagos residence on August 19, 2025, inflicting life-threatening injuries, including a severe neck wound, in a robbery and murder attempt.
“The suspect manipulated the victim into transferring ₦2.12 million to Muhammad’s account via his phone.
“Following directives from IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, we’ve intensified intelligence-driven policing, reinforcing partnerships to outmaneuver criminal networks.
“The suspects have been transferred to Lagos Command for further legal action.
“CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori praises officers for their vigilance, commends public support, and reaffirms dedication to safeguarding lives and property.”
SP Haruna emphasized the command’s unwavering resolve to uphold lawfulness and public safety while fostering collaboration with security stakeholders to dismantle criminal syndicates.
The incident involving Lil Kesh occurred approximately a month before the arrests.
