Nigerian performer Baba Ijesha freed following half-decade incarceration
Nigerian actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha, has been released from prison after more than three years behind bars following allegations of s*xual misconduct.

Popular Nollywood star Baba Ijesha has finally regained his freedom after an extended legal battle stemming from accusations of s*xual assault.

The actor was officially released on Friday, November 14, 2025, following a successful appeal that overturned his previous conviction.

Fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi confirmed the news on social media, sharing an emotional update on his Instagram page celebrating Baba Ijesha’s exoneration.

Fabiyi posted: “Justice has prevailed! Baba Ijesha walks free today, vindicated by the Appeal Court’s ruling. No evidence supported the claims against him—this was a case of truth overcoming falsehood.”

“Our legal system, though imperfect, has corrected this grave injustice. Welcome back to freedom, my brother.”
The embattled actor had originally been sentenced to 16 years in prison in July 2022 after being found guilty of assaulting a minor, but the conviction was later overturned following an extensive appeals process.
