Nigerian rap icon Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, famously known as Illbliss, has publicly criticized fellow artists for their silence in the face of escalating economic struggles and rising insecurity across the nation.
He accused some entertainers of prioritizing personal gain over speaking out against systemic failures and deteriorating safety conditions.
In contrast, he praised outspoken figures like Falz, who have actively participated in demonstrations and used their platform to challenge corruption through music.
During a recent appearance on The Real Shareholders podcast, Illbliss shared his unfiltered perspective.
“We’ve seen courageous voices like Falz The Bhad Guy who risked it all—joining protests, facing arrests, and creating socially conscious art. His ‘Moral Instructions’ album, though possibly his least commercially successful, remains a powerful reflection of our society’s struggles,” he remarked.
“Yet, a significant portion of the entertainment industry has chosen silence. Maybe they believe speaking up changes nothing, or perhaps they’re protecting connections—those same government figures who grace their events.”
“Whatever their reasons, their silence speaks volumes.”
