Spotify’s latest annual report unveiled that Nigerian musicians collectively raked in over ₦60 billion in revenue from the platform in 2025, marking a historic milestone for the country’s music industry.

This staggering figure represents a 140% surge in earnings compared to the previous two years, highlighting the rapid growth of Nigeria’s digital music economy.

Independent artists and labels claimed a dominant 58% share of these royalties, demonstrating the thriving ecosystem of self-released music in Nigeria.

The data further revealed Nigerian artists amassed an impressive 30.3 billion streams globally, translating to 1.6 billion hours of listening time throughout the year.

Female artists experienced remarkable growth, with local streams increasing by 55%, signaling greater representation and popularity for women in Nigerian music.

With Nigerian tracks appearing in 320 million international playlists and 12 million domestic ones, the report confirms the expanding global influence of Afrobeats and other Nigerian genres.

Spotify users worldwide created more than 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists in 2025 alone, showcasing the country’s growing cultural export.
