Ifunanya Nwangene

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has blamed Nigeria’s failing healthcare system for the tragic passing of emerging musical talent Ifunanya Nwangene.

As previously reported by Amonpoint News, the 26-year-old vocalist from Abuja, who performed with the Amemuso Choir, succumbed to a snakebite at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja last Saturday.

Responding to the devastating loss, Ibe took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, asserting that systemic failures in Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure were ultimately responsible for the young artist’s d£ath.

He expressed disbelief that a major public hospital in the nation’s capital lacked essential snake antivenom, particularly in a region known for snakebite cases.

His statement read: “The vibrant 26-year-old musician Ifunanya Nwangene didn’t d!e from a snakebite alone—she was a victim of Nigeria’s broken system.

“It’s unconscionable that in our capital city, where snakebites are frequent, a federal hospital wouldn’t stock life-saving antivenom.

“Yet we never seem to run short of tools to suppress political dissent.”
