The 2026 MOBO Awards, hosted for the first time in Manchester, UK, saw Nigerian artists Wizkid and Ayra Starr shine alongside British-Nigerian media mogul Niko Omilana, who all took home prestigious honors.
Wizkid secured the Best African Music Act title, defeating a star-studded lineup of Nigerian talents, including Davido, Rema, Shallipopi, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold.
Ayra Starr dazzled by winning Best International Act, triumphing over heavyweight contenders like Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani.
Meanwhile, Niko Omilana claimed victory in the Best Media Personality category, surpassing popular nominees such as Bus Aunty (Bemi Orojuogun) and DJ Remi Burgz.
The event, celebrating Black excellence in music and culture, also spotlighted other Nigerian-origin stars, including Odeal, nominated for Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act, and actors Wunmi Mosaku, Damson Idris, Dayo Koleosho, and Cynthia Erivo, recognized for their outstanding performances in TV and film.
