Tems

Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, recently opened up about her early struggles in the industry, recalling a particularly painful moment when she was showered with boos and flying bottles during a school performance.

During a candid conversation with Big Boy TV, the award-winning artist behind hits like “Crazy Tings” revealed how she faced outright rejection at the beginning of her musical journey.

“There was this school performance where I expected applause but got the complete opposite,” she confessed.

“The crowd didn’t just boo me off stage – they hurled plastic bottles too.”

Despite these discouraging experiences, Tems persevered, determined to make her mark in music. She believes some early rejection came from her refusal to conform, choosing original compositions over crowd-pleasing covers.

The internationally acclaimed artist expressed gratitude for staying true to her artistic vision, which eventually propelled her to global recognition, proving that initial setbacks can lead to ultimate triumphs.
