Nigerian artist Owodunni Ibrahim, widely recognized as Primeboy, has issued an emotional appeal urging the burial of his longtime friend, the late Mohbad (born Ilerioluwa Aloba), whose remains have remained unburied for nearly three years.
Mohbad tragically passed away under disputed circumstances on September 12, 2023, and his body has remained in the morgue since then.
Initially interred on September 13, 2023, his body was later exhumed on September 21 for autopsy procedures, leaving his final rites unresolved.
The singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, has maintained that Mohbad’s burial cannot proceed until a DNA test confirms the paternity of Liam, the child left behind by the late artist and his wife, Omawunmi.
In a widely circulated video, Primeboy passionately appealed to Mohbad’s family, the public, and authorities to grant the departed singer a dignified burial.
He pleaded, “Nearly three years have passed since Mohbad’s departure, yet his body remains in the mortuary. I implore the family, the public, and the government—let us lay our brother to rest. He deserves a proper farewell.”
In related developments, an Ikorodu High Court has mandated three independent DNA tests to be conducted overseas to conclusively establish Liam’s paternity.
The court’s decision follows earlier setbacks in the DNA testing process, which prolonged the dispute between Mohbad’s family and his widow.
Joseph Aloba, accompanied by his legal counsel Oladayo Ogungbe, informed the court that the initial testing facility was deemed unsuitable, necessitating a revised approach to ensure impartial and credible results.
