Chike

Nigerian music sensation Chike has shared candid insights on relationships, revealing his mother’s advice urging him to prioritize financial independence and stability in a partner over romance alone.

In a recent episode of Ada’s Room podcast, the award-winning artist disclosed that his mother cautioned him against marrying a woman from an underprivileged background or one without a steady income.

The “Boo of the Booless” crooner explained that his mother emphasized the long-term challenges of supporting a partner with financial burdens, stating, “Marrying someone struggling financially brings unnecessary stress.”

“Everyone should seek a partner who enhances their life beyond emotions. My mom’s wisdom was clear—never commit to someone who lacks stability, no matter how deep the feelings,” Chike revealed.

“She also warned me against partners weighed down by family obligations,” he added, noting how financial dependencies can strain relationships.

The singer admitted he evaluates potential partners carefully, ensuring they have ambition and supportive family backgrounds before pursuing serious commitment.

Chike urged men to prioritize compatibility and practical considerations in relationships, emphasizing, “Love isn’t enough—you must think ahead.”
